West Palm Beach officially changes name from town to city.

Japanese settlers of the Yamato
Colony, June 1909

Yamato Colony (a Japanese agricultural colony) founded by Joseph Sakai near Boca Raton.   The colony was gone by 1942.

1907

An attempt is made to establish Palm Beach County-it fails.

1908

The area's first theater, Bijou, is opened by Carl Kettler in the Jefferson Building on Clematis Street, West Palm Beach

1909

Palm Beach County established

Courthouse opens in former schoolhouse on Clematis and Poinsettia (Dixie) (6 July 1909)
