First school at Canal Point opens.

Henry M. Flagler dies in Palm Beach and is buried in St. Augustine.

Broward County formed from parts of Palm Beach and Dade counties.

State legislature creates the Lake Worth Inlet District and Port

1917

West Palm Beach Canal is opens for barge traffic to Lake Okeechobee.

Industrial High School for blacks opens in West Palm Beach.

Everglades Club opens in Palm Beach. Addison Mizner established Spanish Mediterranean style architecture in south Florida.
