PBC and Hollywood Films

Possibly hundreds of movies have been filmed in Palm Beach County, due to its wide range of environments, ease of movement, mild climate, and beautiful settings. From 1980 to the present, these notable films listed some part of Palm Beach County among their locations:

Smokey and the Bandit II (1980) was filmed in Jupiter, after West Palm Beach was used in the first Smokey film (1977). The famous faces in Smokey II included Jupiter resident Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jackie Gleason, Jerry Reed, Dom DeLuise, and Paul Williams.

Caddyshack (1980) was filmed at Boca Raton Resort and Club with Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, and Bill Murray.

Body Heat (1981), with William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, and Ted Danson, was filmed in Lake Worth, Hypoluxo, and Delray Beach.

Harry and Son (1984) featured an all-star cast headed by Paul Newman, who also acted as scriptwriter and director. The film included demolition of the 1913 white stucco Gulf Stream Inn on Lake Avenue, Lake Worth, which had been condemned in 1979.

Where the Boys Are ’84 (1984), a remake with Lisa Hartman and Lorna Luft, included scenes in Boca Raton.

Stella (1990), also a remake, brought Bette Midler and John Goodman to Boca Raton.

Folks! (1992) starring Tom Selleck and Don Ameche, was filmed in Briny Breezes and Boca Raton.

Up Close and Personal (1996), was filmed in part in Belle Glade, with Robert Redford and Michelle Pfeiffer.
